In the subterranean depths of the Brisbane Arcade lurks this old-fashioned child’s wonderland, where the glamour and romance of the 1950’s and 60’s has been beautifully preserved. For anyone who’d like their child to experience the department store of that era, here is the place.

Adjacent to the elegant cafe is a space full of dreamy clothes of organza, tulle and satin, crafted toys and homewares: a vintage pink ‘Driving Miss Daisy’ pedal car, wooden Cape Cod style doll’s houses, Victorian era baby dolls in bonnets and satin frocks sit alongside wicker picnic baskets, old-fashioned dolls that resemble children rather than rap video dancers, wicker and wrought iron prams, frothy fairy and princess dresses, parasols, rocking horses, carousels, satin ballet bags and real tutus.

Enhance the experience with a civilized high tea (for both adults and children) in the adjacent café, serenaded by the tunes of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
