Makeit Woodworking Workshops

The craft of working with wood is becoming a lost art these days, but the team at Makeit Woodworking Workshops in Wakerley are all about changing that.

The skills and talents of practiced and passionate craftsmen are now being made accessible to anyone above the age of 15 who would like to turn their hand to a new craft and learn from knowledgeable experts. Best of all, no previous experience in handling wood or using woodworking tools is necessary.

The workshops last 4 hours, and all materials are included. In fact, you come with nothing and you leave with new found knowledge, new friends, and a fantastic handcrafted piece you've made yourself that will not only be a hit with your family and friends, it will become your most-liked social media post of the year!

Participants can choose from a number of stylish items to create - from a serving platter, pepper grinder, stool, or table centerpieice, to a shelf or a wooden spoon - to be their one-of-a-kind take-home piece.

Through the class, you will learn a number of important and easy-to-follow artisan skills, such as how to read the grain direction of your timber, and importantly, how to safely and confidently use tools such as hand planes, chisels, saws, kreg jigs, drill presses, to name just a few.

Depending on your chosen piece, you may also learn about marking up your timber, chamfered edges, dovetail joints, wood-carving, how to fit timber plugs and glue your elements, how to fit a timber spline, and so much more.

Whether you're keen to nurture a new-found interest or you've been away from the tools for a while and would like a refresher, these woodworking workshops are the ideal place for you to find your groove.

Nice to know - Classes start from $129 per person, and all materials are included.

Need to know - Participants must be 15 years or older, but no experience is necessary.
