Dutton Park

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

This hilly park is home to the Butterfly Magic Play Space, so named for the ceramic and metal butterflies that were made (with the help of craftspeople) by local Dutton Park and St Ita's school children and can be found dotted around the paths and nearby fences. It's a great little (unfenced) playground for young ones, particularly those interested in diggers for in the sand-based section the big attraction is the two diggers (one to sit on) that can be operated manually to lift and deposit sand.

Other equipment includes a sand play station with pipes and built in scoops to pour sand through, barrel seats, a swinging hammock, swings and colourful slippery dip with abacus and shop front underneath. Then nearby are also giant musical sculptures for music making.

Up the hill are some well shaded picnic tables and benches and an adjacent flat-topped hill has another picnic table, basketball court, lookout and great vistas of the bridge, distant ranges and the city and this is in turn bordered by an offleash dog park also with views.
