Palm Beach Parklands
Gold Coast
Palm Beach Parklands, a tucked away expanse of parkland on the cusp of Currumbin Creek, is like the Gold Coast's very own pirate cove, complete with a protected sandy still water beach and a fabulous pirate themed playground that all ages will enjoy.
In addition to the playground and paddling beach there's plenty of grassy space to run around or kick a ball, picnic and barbecue facilities, plenty of parking, amenities block and an onsite café that serves breakfast from 7.30 daily and decent coffee. But the piece de resistance is the award-winning sand-based playground which centres around a cut out pirate ship with crows nest and a treasure cave inside a huge carved rock that the ship is 'wrecked' against, along with spinning and rocking barrels, a plank to walk, themed slides and musical play.
The little beach inlet, also great for kayaking and toy boat sailing, borders a dog off leash area so those with dogs can bring them on a day out too but children anxious around dogs needn't worry – there's plenty of available space between them.
