Calamvale District Park

Calamvale

Updated: Mar 31, 2021

This park in the depths of Calamvale has the 'wow' factor, with the best equipment for older children that we've seen anywhere as well as a decent smattering of play stuff for the younger ones.

Calamvale District Park's giant slide

Built within a grove of melaleuca trees, with spanking modern barbecue facilities, picnic pavilions and all-important amenities, the star attractions are the 50m long flying fox - guaranteed to keep the big kids happy – and the futuristic slippery dip contraption. This one starts with a massive climbing web which connects with a suspended tunnels of metal tubing high above the ground, wobbly chain bridges and a chain tower and the whole thing culminates in a super dooper enclosed tube slide to the ground.

Keeping good company are a conceptual twisted metal sculpture that doubles as a climbing wall and a metal hurdy gurdy wheel. If there's a drawback with all of this, it currently awaits some decent shading so is best attempted early mornings or late afternoons until this is done.

Meanwhile the smaller children's zone, which is under the melaleucas, has interactive play including a xylophone, cogwheels and a curvy mirror, a group net swing and suspension bridges.

And no need to leave the dog at home – across the creek is an offfleash dog park with a couple of shady trees and benches.

Coming soon are orchards, a community garden, bike paths and a community gathering space.
