This distinctive vernacular style Queenslander house, Warrawee is a prime example of the opulence of the peak 1880’s boom, from its intricate ‘cakework’ façade to its ornate twin curved stairways incorporating Scottish thistles in their lace work. As such the house has had a magazine and book presence throughout its time.

Oddly enough it was rarely owner occupied until the past decades, having been built for one Albert White who was the owner of the 3 acres site on which it originally stood and then occupied briefly by another White who was manager of the New Zealand Accident Insurance Company. After that, ownership is sketchy which is all the more remarkable that it has survived with its features intact.
