Lamb House

Kangaroo Pt

Updated: Mar 08, 2025

Although one of the oldest surviving homes of prominence in Kangaroo Point, the landmark villa Lamb House or ‘Home’ as it has also been known, is some sixty years younger than the suburb itself.

Built in 1902 for Queen St draper John Lamb (one half of Edwards & Lamb), it was designed by well-known architect AB Wilson and is a rare example of a grand piece of Federation architecture from the era. Queen Anne-style features include the elaborate chimney stacks, portico-style observation tower and weather board friezes.

Its first name ‘Home’ can still be seen adorning the entrance and the wrought iron gates and fence are the originals. Descendent of John Lamb, Joy Lamb was in possession of the house until a few years ago, when it was bought and extensively refurbished back to its original glory.
