Somehwere To Stay Backpackers

Highgate Hill

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Perched on a breezy hill spot with city vistas is this multi-storey Queenslander with wraparound latticed verandas, hammocks, lush tropical gardens, salt water pool, and a small allotment of off-street parking.

Although the building is bohemian and somewhat careworn, the rooms are clean and well-kept and the vibe is generally easy going and friendly.

There’s also a variety of sleeping options, from the rock bottom 7 dorm at $19 a bed through to the 4 bed with TV balcony and ensuite for $27 a bed up to the double deluxe room with ensuite for $37 per person.

Despite the quiet location it’s a short stroll to the bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants and bookshops of boho multicultural West End and about fifteen minutes walk to South Bank. As well a free courtesy bus runs to the city every hour and picks up and drops off at Roma St.
