Vietnamese Avachat Café

Michelton

Mitchelton locals have been frequenting Vietnamese Avachat Café for years whilst keeping it close to their chests that one of the best little Vietnamese restaurants in Brisbane lay in their midst.

Tucked around the corner just off Blackwood St, Avachat is little more than a cosy ambient bolthole packed wall to wall with seating under paper lanterns, with a handful of tables on the footpath outside and run by congenial host and chef Jimmy and his wife.

Like the restaurant, the menu is compact, and features a small array of traditional Vietnamese dishes that come in generous size portions. For entrée it’s hard to go past the rice paper rolls or crispy tofu and mains include delectable tamarind ribs, slow cooked pork belly, sautéed lemongrass chilli chicken, salmon fried rice or stir fried soy nuggets.

Otherwise check out the Bun (vermicelli dishes) such as flame grilled pork or Pho (noodle soups).

Then finish with a dessert such as banana spring rolls or sticky rice and banana with a Vietnamese coffee or tea.
