Buxton Park

Yarrabilba

Updated: Mar 08, 2025

Buxton Park, tucked away in residential Yarrabilba, is a splendid parkland quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.

Opened in February 2018, Buxton Park is not one of those pokey little parks you often see in residential estates. Instead, it occupies around eight hectares of open space and has something for absolutely everyone.

For the kids there's a brilliant playground, the centrepiece being an 8.7-metre high tower featuring two enclosed slides set either side of an elaborate climbing web. In order to experience the thrill of a slide, kids first have to muster up their courage to conquer the maze of rope.

Another striking feature is the large synthetic grass caterpillar which snakes its way around the playground precinct. Children will spend hours scaling the rises before rolling, running or jumping into the dips. Even the very young will love clambering all over its grassy green surface.

In-ground trampolines, swings for all ages and abilities, horse bouncers and spinning poles round out the play equipment. You'll also find electric barbecues, an off-leash dog exercise area, wheelchair-accessible toilets plus an extensive network of cycle/walking paths – one of which passes by an impressive wetland area.

For fitness enthusiasts there’s an innovative outdoor gym featuring magnetic bells for weights training, a core twist, a bicycle, and more. The equipment is so sophisticated that it even has an integrated training app to help you get the most out of a workout.

Nice to know – If you're keen for even more fun, the Darlington Parklands super park is just a few minutes away by car.

Need to know - Buxton Park can be found in The Retreat housing development on Buxton Avenue, Yarrabilba.
