Brisbane's La Boite Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Neon Tiger, a musical love story set to the beat of Bangkok, playing from October 27 until November 17.

Neon Tiger is a brand new musical love story set to the beat of Bangkok - the adult gap year you never knew you needed!

La Boite's Roundhouse Theatre will transform into the backstreets of Bangkok for this laugh-out-loud love story from three of Australia's most exciting talents: playwright Julia-Rose Lewis (Samson, This Feral Life), musical comedian Gillian Cosgriff (Tonightly, Vivid White), and director Kat Henry (Wind and The Willows, Constellations).

Reminiscent of Tony Award-winning musicals, The Last Five Years and Once, Neon Tiger features eight original pop songs composed by Green Room Award-winning comedian Cosgriff.

Neon Tiger follows the journey of Andy, played by Lisa Hanley (Winners and Losers, Seven Network), an aspiring songwriter trying to mend her broke heart while on sabbatical in Thailand. While hosting karaoke nights in Bangkok's party-district, Andy meets Thai-American Arisa, played by Courtney Steward (Single Asian Female) who's on a personal quest to connect with her mother's culture. Sparks fly when Andy and Arisa meet, igniting an intense love affair.

"Everyone can relate to a romance like Andy's and Arisa's - that unexpected, electric, messy holiday romance," Director Kat Henry says. "At its core, Neon Tiger is about two 20-somethings navigating not only a foreign country, but their own lives and place within the world.

"It's a gorgeous show; beautiful and tender, smart and sassy, with a collection of really sing-able songs," says La Boite Artistic Director, Todd MacDonald.
