Dog-friendly Penthouse
Peregian Beach
When it comes to dog-friendly accommodation on the Sunshine Coast, Horizons at Peregian is a real find: a holiday resort containing 4 penthouses where (small) pooches* are welcome.
While the whole block (which is brilliantly located right opposite one of the Sunshine Coast’s best dog beaches) is pet friendly, the pick are the penthouses with ocean views.
These spacious 80s style apartments (3x 2br and 1x3br) feature large tiled living spaces with high ceilings and balcony, quiet carpeted bedroom zone out back and an indoor staircase leading to a private roof terrace complete with spa, sun lounges and BBQ.
Underneath is lock-up secure parking and there’s also an onsite pool (where dogs are not allowed).
Best of all, the penthouses don’t cost the earth (especially when compared to a dog friendly house) and Horizons regularly runs great value package deals in the off-season and mid-week. And in winter between June and August there are rock bottom rates for stays of 4 weeks+.
Things to do nearby: Peregian Beach Village is arguably the most dog-friendly of Sunshine Coast beach centres when it comes to dining out, so no need to leave them at home when you go out. Dogs are allowed on-leash all the way to the beach entry before the patrolled beach and the village square is the perfect shady place to secure your dog whilst enjoying a coffee or a meal. And no visit to Peregian is complete without a visit to local institution the Baked Poet Café (try the German breakfast or one of their scrumptious cakes).
Walking: Take the beach entry from the car park directly opposite Horizons and turn right. After about 100m along dogs can romp off leash all the way south to the fantastic Stumer Creek at Coolum.
Need to know: *Horizons welcomes dogs that are up to 10kg in weight only.
