Moda Tapas Brasa Bar
Petrie Terrace
Updated: Jun 08, 2025
Moda Tapas Brasa Bar in Petrie Terrace is Brisbane’s best tapas bar and eatery, occupying the stunning heritage-listed police stables at The Barracks.
A more casual incarnation of Moda, one of Brisbane’s best loved fine dining institutions in the Brisbane CBD, Moda Tapas Brasa Bar is the go-to for first-class Spanish-inspired tapas and mouth-watering brasa (cooked in a Spanish charcoal oven).

Located in the century old police horse stables and one-time Underground nightclub, Moda is a gorgeous vision of rustic industrial chic, featuring exposed original beams and original handmade bricks.

Take a seat at the bar for a drink and quick bite or at one of the chic leather banquettes and indulge in some of the best food in Brisbane prepared by renowned chef Javier Codina.

On the tapas menu are creative morsels such as chicken croquettes in Romesco sauce, black mussels with escabeche & lemon curd; baked figs with jamon and orange & hazelnut butter; char grilled calamri with avocado aioli & potato crisps; and pulled pork empanadas with tomatillo dressing.

Other delicious dishes include Paellita (seafood) by Javier. Qld scallops with cauliflower escabeche & jamon; marinated Manchego with smoked garlic & charred bread; and Catalan Coca 'pizza' with raclette cheese, basil pesto and potato.

Delectable premium steaks, the house specialty, are sourced from the Riverine region of NSW and cooked over live coals inside the imported Spanish charcoal oven (Mibrasa) and come served with Mediterranean vegetables, Rioja suace and chimichurri.

Can’t decide? Then try Moda’s Tapas Banquet (chef’s selection of 5 tapas and 1 Racion to share ) or go for the full Javier’s Table Experience (3 courses - including 7 tapas, 1 Brasa and 3 desserts).

As well as a top place to dine, Moda Tapas Brasa Bar makes a great place for a drink and quick bite to eat before or after a movie at The Palace Barracks.

Drinks include a selection of Spanish boutique beers including Moda Cervesa lager on tap, a superb range of Spanish, French and Australian wines, medium or dry sherry, and cocktails including Moda Sangria and The Catalan (white rum, Drambuie, cinnamon and bitters) as well as premium spirits and liqueurs.

Like what you've had to drink? Then take it home with you from the mini bottle shop at the entrance.

Good to know – There is 2-hour free secure parking onsite ( 2.5 hours - $10) at The Barracks. Moda has a stunning private dining room available for large group dining and functions.
