Treasure Inn
Graceville
Treasure Inn is a blink and you'll miss it little treasure of a Chinese restaurant found tucked in a corner of the Graceville 5 ways.
This is the place to come for great value home-style Cantonese cuisine, with a mix of traditional dishes you won’t find easily elsewhere alongside a handful of the standard OZ-Chinese to keep non-adventurers happy.
Indeed charming hospitable owner Phil actively encourages diners not to order the sweet ’n’ sour pork or lemon chicken when they could be having his chef recommended dishes like smoky Kung Bo Chicken, Salt and Pepper NZ Flounder (perfect with an icy cold beer), Steamed Dim Sims (made by hand on site) and tender Beef with Cashew Nuts and Fried Rice.
Other delicious options on the compact-by-Chinese standards menu include Salt and Pepper Cutlet, Shang Dong chicken or Loh Hon Zai (traditional mixed vegetables) and Fried Ho Fun (flat rice noodle).
Like everything else even the spring rolls are hand made on site by Phil’s Dad and main chef Lim, and between this and Phil’s cheery welcome the whole dining experience at Treasure Inn feels like you are a guest in their home.
Need to know: While there are some tables inside, the majority of seating is outdoors on a covered deck. There is plenty of parking available onsite.
Nice to know - Takeaway is also available.
The menu may have changed since our visit.
