Mr Percival’s is Brisbane’s stunning octagonal overwater bar jutting out over the river in prime position under the Story Bridge at the Howard Smith Wharves.

A must-visit for visitors and locals alike, Mr Percival’s is unlike any other Brisbane bar yet quintessentially Queensland, with chic, semi-tropical interior by internationally-renowned local designer Anna Spiro and fresh seafood and fruity cocktails dominating the menu.

Palm trees, beach umbrellas and ferns dot the wraparound outer decks, which also feature bench railings with little table lamps, while inside the wood-panelled bar gives the nod to Queenslander VJs and floral curtains frame the doorways. Look out for the vintage palm-tree fabric coverings on the chairs, too.

A striking centrepiece indoors is the bar with its giant lit-up tower of spirits, with the crows-nest-style DJ box perched atop. From the outside seating guests enjoy Brisbane’s best vistas, from the cliffs of New Farm and the mangrove beaches of Kangaroo Point to the Brisbane CBD skyline.

Other seafood delicacies from the grill include Dory grilled on the bone, grilled scampi and roe or grilled prawns along with delectable rolls – lobster or hand-picked Fraser Island spanner crab with aioli and herbs. Meanwhile for dessert there’s the likes of passionfruit tart, Rum Baba or cannoli.

Cocktails at Mr Percival’s are a real treat, with the summery house cocktails including Sling, G & T or Driftwood along with frozen cocktails (frose or mango) or Pimms and Gin Sour to share.

Bubbles come from France and Italy and the wine list offers an impressive selection of local and international varieties. Beer on tap comes from next door at Felons Brewing Co – think Amsterdam Pale Ale, Lager or Middy and otherwise there’s a mix of local craft and international by the bottle.

Nice to know - Mr Percival's takes its name from the pelican in iconic Australian story Storm Boy.

Need to know - Take a Rivercat to Eagle St pier and walk along or to Sydney St and take the Riverwalk. Otherwise you can access the Howard Smith Wharves from Bowen Tce atop the New Farm cliffs and take the glass elevator down.
