School of Rock
Lyric Theatre QPAC
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s smash-hit rock musical School of Rock is coming to QPAC from Friday, July 12.
Based on the much-loved comedy film starring Jack Black, School of Rock follows failed rock star, Dewey Finn, who's forced to earn some extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at an elite private school.
But rather than teaching his straight-laced students algebra and arithmetic, he gets his privileged pupils in touch with their inner rock stars, as he dreams of redemption at a local Battle of the Bands.
Brent Hill, actor, composer and musical theatre performer, will reprise his role as wannabe rock star Dewey Finn, while Amy Lehpamer will again play Miss Mullins, the uptight yet lovable headmistress with a hankering for Stevie Nicks.
Joining them on stage each night will be two alternating casts of extremely talented pint-sized prodigies, aged 9 to 13 years of age, who’ll blow your mind with scorching riffs and pounding beats.
The full adult cast will bring together some of Australia’s leading stage performers, including John O’Hara (Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, Cats) as Ned Schneebly, Matt Crowley (Molly: the Molly Meldrum Story, House Husbands) as Theo, Nadia Komazec (The Rocky Horror Show, Mamma Mia!) as Patti di Marco and Joe Kosky (Kinky Boots, High Fidelity) as the alternate Dewey.
Since opening on Broadway in 2015, School of Rock has smashed box office records, received rave reviews, earned 4 Tony nominations, and won the 2017 Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement.
Suitable for rockers of all ages, School of Rock will ‘stick it to the man’ and blow the roof off the Lyric Theatre this July!
