Duo Bar & Restaurant
West End
DUO BAR AND RESTAURANT HAS CLOSED, TO BE REPLACED BY THE GARNER IN NOVEMBER 2019.
Duo Bar and Restaurant is a quaint West End eatery housed in an old Queenslander with a lovely, leafy courtyard serving all-day brunch along with locally-roasted Bear Bones espresso and boozy juices.
Tucked away on Browning Street, Duo is one of West End's most charming cafes. Patrons can dine inside the dimly-lit, traditional Queenslander cottage adorned with local art, or outside in the spacious, covered courtyard with leafy plants and funky graffitied fence.
The all-day menu boasts delicious food, from simple eggs on toast to scrambled eggs with truffle oil and grana padano on ciabatta, while more substantial fare includes Chicken 'n' Waffles (pumpkin waffles with chicken bites, roasted capsicum and tomato puree, and lemon labneh), ham hock croquettes with pea puree, apple and cabbage salad, and mustard remoulade, and French toast burger with haloumi, bacon, berry compote, maple syrup and pistachio praline.
There's vegetarian dishes like the Veggie Stack - cauliflower & zucchini fritters, field mushrooms, haloumi, hash browns, broccoli, spinach, hollandaise and gremolata dressing. Otherwise, there's reuben melts with corn beef, Jarlsberg cheese, pickles and dill mayo on rye bread and beef burgers served with beer battered chips.
Besides coffee, there's loose-leaf tea, smoothies, milkshakes, fresh juices and boozy juices like Tropical Wave (spiced rum, pineapple and fresh lime) and Twisted Whisper (whiskey, ginger beer and lime). In addition, there's a small selection of white, red, rose and sparkling wine, as well as craft beer and cider.
Nice to know - Duo hosts Boozy Brunch nights every Friday until 8pm offering their full brunch menu served alongside their boozy juices and more.
