Blue Ridge Lavender Farm & Retreat
Dayboro
Blue Ridge Lavender Farm and Retreat at Dayboro is the perfect place to unwind, pamper yourself and soak up the laid back vibe of this quaint country town.
A historic Queenslander welcomes guests and sets the scene for a relaxing break in the country, just 45 mins from Brisbane. The house is positioned on top of a ridge to catch passing breezes and from the front verandah views across the Dayboro Valley can be enjoyed. From the kitchen window at the back of the house the eye travels across a valley to beautiful blue ridges and rolling hills. To complete the picture, neighbouring cows often enjoy the view as they catch the sun on the ridge - just over the back fence.
Beautiful old fig trees in the backyard are the ideal spot for that early morning cuppa or late afternoon drinks as the sun goes down. Keen photographers will be kept busy capturing the natural beauty that abounds here: busy bees amongst the lavender, cows lazing and grazing, stunning sunsets, green valleys, blue ridges and rolling hills. It's no surprise that this spot is popular for bridal photography. Brides and their bridesmaids often stay here the night before the wedding.
From the side verandah of the house the view takes in seating amongst rows and rows of lavender. Here's the perfect place for quiet solitude or to simply enjoy the view. If all of this isn't enough to relax guests, massages can be booked with one of the local masseuses who will come to the house.
Blue Ridge Lavender Farm is a three bedroom house, able to sleep six. A country kitchen overlooks the pretty back garden and an adjoining lounge/dining room makes a comfortable indoor place to eat and relax. In fine weather, however, the wrap-around verandah is the place to be for meals and relaxation. Beautifully decorated throughout and with all the essentials visitors need, it’s wonderful to escape to this rural retreat where owner, Sheree, extends true country hospitality.
Guests can order a breakfast hamper including bacon, eggs, tomato, fresh bread, fruit platter and juice for $20 per person. With a BBQ and outdoor setting on the verandah, this is a lovely way to start the day. Alternatively, guests can pick up their own supplies at the Dayboro Butcher and IGA in town.
At the other end of the day a deep claw-foot bath beckons. The bathroom windows open to the picturesque garden, valley and blue hills. A lovely touch here are the lavender based toiletries and skin care products which are provided, making a little pampering a "must do".
There's plenty to see and do in and around Dayboro. Call in to Dayboro Cottage in William Street where volunteers at the Historical Society are only too happy to chat about the town's history and provide information that will help visitors discover Dayboro. Recommended is a coffee or a meal up at The Pitstop Cafe with its jaw-dropping views and combine the weekend away with this Dayboro-Mt Mee day trip.
