Foresters Restaurant & Bar
Fortitude Valley
FORESTERS RESTAURANT AND BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED AND WILL BE REPLACED BY LA COSTA BAR IN LATE 2020.
Foresters Restaurant and Bar in Fortitude Valley is the epitome of elegance; a Modern Australian all-day eatery housed in the old Forester's Hall (circa 1889) which was once upon a time the Valley's first movie theatre.
Perched on the corner of Alfred and Brunswick Streets, at the base of FV by Peppers boutique accommodation, Foresters is elegant and edgy, at the same time featuring exposed brickwork and concrete pillars with arched windows and luxe leather seating.
Breakfast offerings range from classic eggs on toast and smashed avocado on quinoa loaf, to breakfast polenta with mushrooms, fried egg, truffle oil, greens and goats cheese, and souffle pancakes served with brûléed custard, raspberries, mandarin and passionfruit.
The lunch and dinner menu is Mod Oz including starters such as house-made damper created with craft beer from local Sea Legs Brewing, chicken stuffing croquettes with cranberry purée, saltbush and bread sauce, and pepper-seared wallaby carpaccio with brioche crumb and lemon balm. Patrons can also select charcuterie for one (cured meat, artisan pickles and breads) as well as a cheese board for one piled with pickles, dried fruit, Australian artisan cheese and bread.
Mouth-watering mains range from duck breast with black garlic mash and asparagus, pork belly with soft polenta, grilled pear and caper and sherry jus, Forester's lemon myrtle roast chicken for two with stuffing, bacon fat roasted potatoes and onion gravy, and Cone Bay barramundi served on a bed of raw pea and asparagus salsa.
Alternatively, there's stone baked pizzas - margarita, funghi, hawaiian and parmigiana - and the Forester Burger with black onyx patty, cheese, smoked brisket, bacon, onion rings, Foresters' secret sauce and salad, served with pepperberry salt chips.
Desserts on offer include Australian classics like Foresters' lamington with cacao ganache, raspberry jam and toasted coconut, and pavlova with wattleseed, riberries and passionfruit.
Foresters is fully-licensed with a predominantly Australian wine list, craft beer on tap, and classic cocktails with a creative twist crafted with Australian ingredients.
