Best Things To Do In Salisbury
Salisbury, the old Brisbane industrial suburb of wartime factories and tiny timber workers cottages adjoining Toohey Forest, is becoming Brisbane’s newest secret hub of cool, especially in the Ammunition Factory precinct.
In this historic industrial zone, where the weapons and artillery of Australia’s World War II effort were manufactured under cover, the quaint back streets with names like Chrome and Machinery Drive, are quietly coming to life again. Here, old wartime factories and sheds have been converted into funky cafes, microbreweries and vintage shopping haunts.
Add to this some very affordable post-war worker's cottages and ex-military housing estates, a stunning forest reserve with walking tracks and city views, plus the proximity to the CBD and Griffith University, it's easy to see why Salisbury is being discovered.
