Talking Ideas: Dr Karl Kruszelnicki

State Library of Queensland

Join Australia’s most popular science writer Dr Karl Kruszelnicki AM at the State Library of Queensland on November 11, for an evening of fascinating fun as the national treasure discusses his latest book, Dr Karl’s Random Road Trip Through Science.

The State Library's last Talking Ideas event for 2019, this is a night not to be missed.

Dr Karl’s Random Road Trip Through Science is the entertaining result of the scientist’s 30+ year mission to track down the universe’s most awesome stories. In it, he sheds light on such fascinating mysteries as to why wombats poo cubes, whether fish drink water, how to use an incinerating toilet, and what nearly destroyed humanity on Halloween 2015. Find out whether cannibalism is nutritious, how birds fly when they’re asleep, and why spaghetti always breaks into three parts.

During his talk, Dr Karl will showcase content from the large-format full-colour book, which is not only packed with scintillating stories, but also funny and clever illustrations. So whether you’re ten or sixty-ten, strap in for a random ride through the universe in which you may well end up anywhere.

Nice to know - SLQ’s Talking Ideas are regular live events with the world’s best authors, thinkers and commentators.

Need to know - Dr Karl will be meeting fans after the event and signing copies of Dr Karl’s Random Road Trip Through Science. Books will be available to purchase from SLQ’s Library Shop, while pre-event refreshments will be on offer at the Library Café Bar.
