Zeus Street Greek
South Bank
Zeus is a Greek God’s gift to South Bank – a slick casual eatery serving up delicious Greek street food that is perfect for those after a quick budget bite to eat.
It’s also a great spot for families or groups to linger over shared plates and boards of food, mezze style, making a great value weekend lunch or dinner accompanied by a glass of Greek wine or boutique beer.
The must try signature dish at Zeus is the ‘Nude’: succulent melt-in-the-mouth Chicken, Pork or Chicken from the traditional souvla, which comes served in a mini casserole with a side of tzatziki and lemon.
The Pitas (tasty pita bread wraps) are great to enjoy in-house or takeaway, with fillings such as the spicy Hermes-Chicken (chicken, chilli-infused tzatziki with Aegean slaw, golden pepper salsa, parsley and fresh chilli), Uncle ‘Tzimmy’ Classic Pork, Chicken or Lamb (with tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and chips).
There’s also salads such as Village (tomato, cucumber, onion, oregano, olives, feta and lemon dressing), Beetroot (beetroot, feta, yoghurt, fresh deal and seasoning) or Green Bean (green beans, fig, feta, herbs, roast almond, balsamic and olive oil).
If making a real meal of it, start with a Pita Bread Dip (Tzatziki, Tarama or Spicy Feta), Corn Cobs, Calamari or the melt-in-the-mouth Spanakopita. And chip lovers shouldn’t miss the more-ish hot chips crumbled with feta and oregano.
Then for dessert there’s ice-cream, Bougatsa (vanilla bean custard in filo pastry) or Loukoumades (Greek doughnuts), which are an absolute must try and perfect to share. These come traditional with honey, cinnamon and walnuts or drizzled with hazelnut chocolate and walnuts.
Nice to know - For those with children in tow, there’s a special Greek-flavoured Kids menu of Chicken or Lamb Pita or Calamari and Chips.
Need to know – There are 2 entrances to Zeus, one on Little Stanley St and one on Grey St. The latter is diagonally opposite South Bank Cinemas off the roundabout (look for the gold lightning bolt). All ordering (both drinks and food) must be done at the counter.
