Motorcycles on Film
Cinematheque, GOMA
The Motorcycle roars to life on screen in GOMA's custom-built free cinema program, exploring the rich history of motorcycles in cinema including classics, icons and new takes on motorcycle culture.
Blending Hollywood classics with lesser known but equally captivating films from around the world, this program showcases how motorcycles have been used to represent ideas of danger, fraternity and freedom, while also looking back to the early years of the vehicle as well as forward to what possibilities may lie ahead of us.
Catch two competing visions of freedom with a leather-clad Marlon Brando in The Wild One 1953 and Audrey Hepburn speeding through the streets on a Vespa in Roman Holiday 1953. Then spend the day with Steve McQueen in the iconic documentary On Any Sunday 1971 and the war epic The Great Escape 1963.
