The Fat Duck
Wynnum
THE FAT DUCK HAS CLOSED IN 2022 AND BEEN REPLACED BY MISS MEXICANA.
The Fat Duck is Wynnum's first tapas bar - a cool addition to the bayside dining scene, located in the base of a contemporary new precinct in the town centre.
Look for the giant bucket and spade sculpture on the corner of Bay Tce and Edith St and behind it you'll find a lively crowd enjoying drinks and delicious tapas on the covered al fresco terrace. There's also a slick indoor bar space and plenty of tables and chairs on the footpath.
The bar menu is a foodie's delight with a french flavour. Start with small plates such as pork or salmon rillette and caviar with sour dough toast, BBQ corn with butter zaatar and parmesan cheese or chicken liver parfait and sherry syrup with sourdough toast.
Larger share plates include charcuterie or cheese board, spices mussels with fresh herbs and charred sourdough or potatoes roasted in duck fat and thyme.
For drinks, there's a selection of craft beers on tap, wines by the bottle or glass and house cocktails such as Fat Duck Iced Tea, French or espresso martini, margarita and Midori Illusion (midori, malibu and pineapple juice).
Good to know - Neighbour and associate Mr Hibachi has an espresso bar downstairs and a cool tropical Pan Asian restaurant serving seriously good lunches and dinners upstairs.
Need to know - Order drinks and food and pay at the bar.
