Parklands Guesthouse Retreat
Witta
Parklands Guesthouse Retreat in Witta is a slice of heaven, just a short drive away from the tourist strip that is Maleny's Maple Street. After a day of sightseeing, coming home to this private sanctuary is bliss.
With two Queen bedrooms, generous lounge and semi-contained kitchen, the guest retreat is very comfortable and feels like home - only better. Sink into the leather lounge in front of the gas fire and enjoy the view of this beautifully landscaped property with its manicured gardens. Alternatively, step out from either bedroom, straight onto a generous deck and chill out whilst watching and listening to a crystal clear creek running right past the doorstep. Take a leisurely walk around the garden, crossing the creek via bridges or stepping stones and feel the cool, clean air of the rainforest environment.
The retreat is very well equipped and has everything guests need for an enjoyable stay. Basic pantry items, crockery, platters, glasses and cutlery are in plentiful supply. Meals can be cooked on the BBQ on the patio – which is where guests will find a very tempting hammock, swaying in the breeze. There is also a fully equipped laundry for the convenience of guests.
At night be coaxed into a deep sleep by the sound of the running creek and a chorus of frogs and then wake in the morning to a cacophony of birdsong and the unmistakable sounds of the house chickens busily laying. Understandably, tiny pademelons and wallabies call this quiet and peaceful area home.
A short walk from Parklands is the general store - the only store in Witta. Cross the road from here and enjoy a great view of the Mary Valley. For a little insight into the history of the area, visit the Witta Cemetery where many of its early German settlers are buried. First populated in 1887 by German immigrants, the township was originally known as Teutoberg.
For those looking for a complete break from the daily grind, nearby Maudy's Bistro and Bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bistro is licensed and also serves takeaway meals.
Owners and hosts at Parklands Guesthouse Retreat, Jo-Anne and Bill Dickinson, welcome visitors warmly and are very friendly and helpful. Guests will appreciate the little extra touches that make this accommodation special.
Nice to know - Witta is just a 5 minute drive from everything Maleny has to offer but staying at Parklands Guesthouse Retreat is like being another world away.
