La Parrilla
North Ipswich
La Parrilla is a bright and colourful slice of South America found on a corner in North Ipswich.
The cheap and cheerful little eatery, which started life as a West End market stall, is the go-to for authentic BBQ dishes and street food with a Colombian flavour.
Chef Sebastian Brun and his Colombian-born wife Carolina Gomez opened their restaurant to share the flavours of Carolina’s homeland, attracting diners from all across the south east of Queensland.
The food flavours are defined by the smokiness and tenderness from the popular American BBQ scene but with light fresh and sparky salsas replacing the usual sauces and slaws.
Hearty and generous offerings include the $23 Picada (Mixed Grill), where you'll enjoy a taste of everything including wood-fired pork, BBQ chicken and grilled chorizo with a petite salad, baby potatoes, casava wedges, grilled corn cob and salsa aji.
The pork at La Parilla is slow cooked for several hours over hickory wood, while their Porterhouse steak is served with a fresh herbaceous chimichurri and all the sides.
You can also enjoy nachos, fried chicken wings and loaded fries, which have all been given the La Parrilla twist. And in the fridge you'll find authentic South American soft drinks to accompany your meal.
