Start your engines for the Leyburn Historic "Around the Houses" Sprints, held on the weekend of September 11-12, 2021* in the tiny township of Leyburn, an easy two and half hour drive from Brisbane’s CBD.

The spectacular annual event is a must attend for vintage and classic car racing enthusiasts.

Leyburn Sprints

The Sprints commemorates the running of the first Australian Grand Prix to be held in Queensland post World War II, in September 1949. At that event, an unprecedented 30,000 spectators turned up, overwhelming the event organisers.

Leyburn Sprints

Today, Leyburn celebrates this historic event by running a Sprint through the streets of Leyburn, featuring over 200 classic cars, and attracting 1,000's of visitors to the tiny town.

Leyburn Sprints

Along with a 200-plus entry of historic and classic racing cars, this year’s event highlight will be the Leyburn Legends Weekend, a guest line-up of some of Australia’s greatest racing drivers from the 1960s to the 1990s. Other attractions will feature the always-popular Shannons Show ‘n’ Shine, a Vintage Caravan Show and country markets.

Accommodation

You’ll see plenty of campers at Leyburn, however campsites are not taking bookings anymore so we suggest staying in nearby Warwick, an easy, 40-minute drive from Leyburn. Choose from the many motels and B&Bs on offer for stays in this charming town.
