Shelter
Morningside
SHELTER PERMANENTLY CLOSED IN OCTOBER 2021.
Shelter is a massive craft beer bar and eatery housed in a warehouse in industrial Morningside with live music on weekends.
A community hub for locals, the cavernous venue is child and dog-friendly with plenty of room for families and friends to get together and enjoy a few brews and a bite to eat.
There's 16 craft beers on tap, handpicked by Shelter to bring you the best Australia has to offer, including local brews by Range Brewing, Ballistic Beer Co and Brendale Brewing; poured along with a carefully-curated wine list that includes sparkling, white, rosé and red, plus spirits.
Bar bites include cheeseburger spring rolls, prawn twirls with chilli caramel sauce, twice-cooked pork belly bites, and smokey bbq chicken wings; while more substantial fare ranges from chicken parmi and pizzas to burgers: beer, karaage chicken or barramundi.
Shelter also offers plenty of plant-based dishes like deep-fried cauliflower bites, a Korean-style kimchi plant-based burger, and a vegan platter for two piled with bruschetta, cauliflower bites, jackfruit tacos, roasted capsicum, and sweet potato fries.
For non-vegans, there's a grazing board loaded with prosciutto, salami, Brie, red Leicester cheddar, mixed olives, hummus and crispy Turkish bread.
Meanwhile, a dedicated kids menu consists of ham and cheese pizza, chicken poppers, cheeseburgers and chips.
On weekends, Shelter dishes up delicious breakfast fare from 8-11:30am including classics like bacon and eggs, smashed avo on Turkish, and banana and choc hazelnut calzones served with coconut ice-cream and mixed berry coulis, perfectly accompanied by locally-roasted Fonzie Abbott coffee.
