Pilgrim by Fogata
Petrie Terrace
Pilgrim by Fogata brings a delicious and authentic taste of Latin America to heritage-listed precinct The Barracks at Petrie Terrace.
A new incarnation from the owners of popular tapas bar Fogata Latin Fusion on James St, Pilgrim by Fogata occupies the stunning rustic brick-walled space that was once home to Peasant.
Diners can take a seat in the ambient dimlit interior, at the bar or in the enchanted fairy-lit covered courtyard out back and enjoy Latin-American flavoured cocktails, wine, beer and delectable share plates from the regions of South America.
Te menu is divided into smaller and larger share plates, with the formed including Pão de Queijo (Brazilian style cheese bread); Ceviche (fresh Hiramasa kingfish cured in lime juice, red onion, cilantro, aji) and Jalopena Poppers (cream cheese stuffed roasted jalapeños wrapped in prosciutto).
Other small dishes include must-try Brazilian Crab Sliders (Brazilian style cheese bread, soft shell crab, rocket, truffle aioli); Chicken Skewers (marinated in llajua sauce, watercress, chimichurri) and Loaded Patacón (twice fried plantain, guacamole & pulled pork).
Larger dishes include Feijoada (slow cooked hearty black bean stew with rump cap, pork belly, chorizo and bacon, with sides of rice, farofa and molho à campanha); Maduro Gnocchi (Ripe plantain pan fried gnocchi, beurre noisette verjus reduction, shaved manchego) and Stuffed Pimiento (charred whole capsicum stuffed with pulled pork and quinoa, beetroot purée, roasted bell peppers, shaved parsnip chips).
Meanwhile for dessert there's a choice of Churros (with cinnamon sugar, dulce de leche & vanilla ice cream); Manjar (coconut flan, caramelized prunes) and Affogato with a choice of liqueurs.
As for the cocktail menu, choose from Spiced Old Cuban, Quemidito Colada (Pampero white rum, chilli bush honey, coconut cream & pink pepper) or XO Espresso Martini (house-made coffee tequila, Amero Averna, Five senses dark horse & xocolatl bitters) as well as Brazilian Mai Tai, Peruvean or Chilean Pesco Sour or Margarita 3 ways - Tommy, Mezcal or Classic).
The wine list features a majority of wines from South America, including Chilean, Argentinian and Uruguayan as well as a smattering of wines from NZ and Australia, while beers include Mexican and craft beers from Australia.
