Before + After

Brisbane CBD

Before + After is a secret subterranean Amaro and cocktail bar found down an historic carriageway and located in the basement of heritage-listed Francis House.

Head down the old brick carriageway next to Irish Murphy's and to the left under the graffit'd walls you'll find the doorway and stairs leading down to the ambient dimlit bar.

The windowless bar is lit by candles and bare gold industrial light bulbs and in the far end you'll find some vintage leather lounges, gramophone and a wooden bookcase containing old books and bottles of liqueur.

Take a seat on the couches or at one of the bar stools lined up around the counter or along one of the handmade brick walls and enjoy a tipple from the extensive Amaro menu which features vintage, contemporary, Australian and Italian drops. Theres also Amaro-flavoured cocktails, small batch boutique spirits and a teeny handful of wine or beer.

Whilst Amaro takes centre stage here, the bar food menu is a small but delectable liqueur-laced affair. Patrons can enjoy dishes like Grilled cheese Sizzler bread toast, lillet-soaked pear and mustard or Shrimp roll with Fernet mayo and fried garlic.

There's also fish crudo with vermouth gel; Olasagasti anchovy toast and a delcious charcuterie platter as well as dessert-style offering 'Not Offoagto' - Maleny Food Co vanilla bean gelato in Mr Black Coffee Amaro or Amaro Braulio/Nonino.
