The spacious restaurant has a dining hall/canteen vibe, divided by a carved wooden partition into two spaces, with bright lighting and walls adorned with photos of Japanese scenery.

The food is decent quality, top value for the price and comes served on ceramic plates and tableware, starting with entrees such as vegetable or prawn gyoza, beef carpaccio, chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, potato croquette or takoyaki.

There's also sushi roll or ngiri platters and a sashimi and sushi platter as well as a selection of salads including eggplant, seaweed, mushroom or seasoned squid; and vegetable kakiage, shumai or grilled chicken wings.

For mains there's a choice of teriyaki steak or chicken, yakiniku beef, chicken katsu, miso steak, prawn & vegetable tempura, stir fried beef udon, curry chicken, cooked prawns, vegetable with garlic sauce, cold soba noodles or mini katsu curry udon.

And that's not all - to finish there's a small selection of desserts such as signature green tea or black sesame ice-cream, mini matcha taiyaki or vanilla ice-cream.

Drinks-wise, there's a small selection of beer or wine as well as Japanese wine and sake, refreshing mocktails such as lychee mojito and soft drinks.

Need to know - There is on street parking available along Hardgrave Rd and surrounding streets. Bookings are essential.
