Bowie's Flat Wetland

Coorparoo

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

An artificial wetland plonked right at the rim of Coorparoo’s commercial centre, Bowies Reserve is a small and surprising retreat from the bustling revamped shopping centre nearby.

Originally created as a stormwater settling area, it was transformed by Brisbane City Council into its current guise as a kind of filter for the storm debris that would flow into nearby Norman Creek and the river.

With a boardwalk winding over the top of it, attached deck shelters and a couple of picnic tables dotted around the banks, this pocket of wetland is a charming little spot to while away some time, feeding the ducks and hanging out.
