Customers can take a seat inside the cosy pastel-hued interior dining space or outside on the covered terrace and partake in regional Thai dishes (many of which are based on family recipes).

Small plates to share include traditonal faves with a creative twist, such as snapper & basa fishcakes; shiitake mushroom & vermicelli spring rolls; prawn & chicken dim sims; Esan (Lao pork & rice sausages) & pickled ginger; and homemade bao (honey chicken. Peking duck or panko mushroom).

For mains there's wok-fried dishes such as Khao Man Gai (Thai-Chinese hainan chicken rice); roasted pork belly & kailan (garlic, chilli & soy beans); sizzling Peking duck; or Sizzling Pad Cha Talay (prawns, scallops, squid, mussels & snapper with chilli, garlic, kaffir lime & green peppercorns).

Soups & hot pots are a house specialty - try the Tom Yum Mama Hot Pot (Tom Yum soup, soft shell crab & mixed seafoods); or Wagyu Thai Boat Noodle (Thai style noodle soup with stewed wagyu meatballs, noodles, garlic, coriander, basil & pork crackers). Also worth trying are grilled dishes such as grilled Angus rib fingers or pork jowl.

There's also an impressive selection of house salads, including Laab Moo (pork belly mince); Yum squid; Nam Tok pork jowl or Angus rib; and Som Tum Thai or Lao (green papaya with swordfish or swimmer crab). And for dessert there's the likes of black rice & sticky date pudding and crispy bao burger with coconut ice-cream & peanut butter crumb.

From the bar, cocktails include Mango Sticky Rice (cognac, rice infused coconut milk & lemon); Yuzu Whisky Sour; and Purple Butterfly (gin, elderflower liqueur, lavender syrup, lime & tonic); and beers include Singha, Asahi & Stone & Wood Pale Ale. There's also a concise curated wine list and non-alcoholic drinks like coconut frappe and Thai milk tea or Thai lemon iced tea.

Good to know - Ma Chim has a great value 'Feed Me" banquet, featuring 3 starters, 3 mains, rice and roti bread and a dessert for $50.

Need to know - There is a limited amount of off-street parking available onsite, otherwise street parking nearby.
