Simpson Falls Walk
Mt Coot-tha
The 2.8 km bush walk from Simpson Falls starts well inside the access road, so walk or drive to where the main gum tree studded Simpson Falls Picnic Area and barbecue grounds are.
This in itself is such a beauty spot it’s worth beginning or ending the walk with a cook-up or refuel here.
The Eugenia Trail – Take the Simpson Falls Track from the barbecue grounds; this leads up to the Falls themselves, which vary from a series of climbable rock ledges in the dry to a gushing white torrent in the wet.
Nearby is a bench if in need of a breather.
The Eugenia Circuit, which connects from here, starts with a path that twists its way up the hill and follows Ithaca creek before crossing it and eventually connects with the Fairy Wren Trail.
Those keen for some extra exercise can take a right turn onto it and follow the loop around or take a left turn and head straight for the rest of the Eugenia trail.
After more ascents eventually the reward is a filtered vista of the city before heading back down the hill to the falls.
The eucalypt forest that lines the path is home to many different birds and native animals.
Dogs are allowed but must be on-leash at all times.
