Exposed Resilience

Brisbane Quarter

In celebration of Brisbane Festival, Brisbane Quarter at 300 George Street is excited to host the stunning exhibition, Exposed Resilience, by First Nations contemporary artist Grace Lillian Lee, on display until September 30, 2024.

This exhibition showcases a selection of Lee's unique woven body adornments which were created in response to a picture of her grandmother’s wedding on Thursday Island, Queensland, in 1948.

The artist utilises her own contemporary style, based on the ‘grasshopper’ weaving technique, a traditional Torres Strait Islander method passed on to her by her Elders.

She crafts each piece by hand, dressing the body to create new forms. Three captivating monochromatic body works will be suspended in the air at Brisbane Quarter, making it a must-see for fashion and art lovers alike in September.
