Warisan
Fortitude Valley
Warisan is a funky Indonesian hawker style eatery and bar located off the beaten track down a Fortitude Valley side street.

Nestled within a rustic moody space featuring dim wall lighting, rough textured walls a lit-up bar and a couple of retro arcade games, Warisan has a cool grungy vibe, in contrast to other Indonesian restaurants in Brisbane.

The dining furnture is in keeping with the rest of the decor - retro coloured metal chairs and work-bench-like tables, with the option to sit out front in the courtyard (which is dog friendly) or inside.

The menu at Warisan features traditional Indonesian dishes taken to the next creative level, starting with small share plates such as Jagung Bakur (grilled corn & garlic butter or spicy chilli sauce); Tahu Isu (crispy fried tofu with mxed vegetables & sambal assam); or salt & pepper fried chicken with coriander seed, kaffir lime & kewpie mayo.

Medium dishes include Chicken Lawar Salad (Balinese salad of long beach, poached chicken, jackfruit & grated coconut); and Tamis KangKung EBI (stir-fried kangkung, school prawns, chili, garlic & oyster sauce, whilst large dishes include must-try Maranggi Beef Satay (West Java marinated beef satay, acar & sweet soy chili sambal).

Also highly recommended is the Jimbaran style grilled snapper with sambal matah; Balinese pork belly with bumbu genak, lawar kacang & sambal matah; Surabaya style fried duck with yellow curry paste & serundeng; Sumatran beef curry with potato & 13 spices in coconut cream; and crispy fried soft shell crab in Chili Padange sauce & green shallots. And for dessrt you need to try the Klappertaart (Dutch-influenced coconut tart with raisin & almond, topped with cinnamon powder.

The bespoke cocktails are as top notch as the food, with choices like Warisan Fizzy Punch (pineapple, rum, salted coconut, lemon & bitters); Sunshine Spritz (gin, mandarin oleo, tio pepe & kaffir leaf); Semerang Mojito (rum, ginger & kaffir lime, mint & pomegranate); and Pandan Colada (frozen slushie pineapple, panda, coco lopez & lime) as well as a handful of mocktails.

Beers on offer include Bintang and a selection of local craft beers and cider, whilst the carefully curated wine list features boutique Australian wines (including sparkling) and French champagne.

Good to know - Warisan also has a dedicated vegan/vegetarian menu, excellent value 5-course banquets (min 2 people) from $45-$49, and a great range of lunch specials.
Need to know - There is metered parking available in Prospect St (parallel to Hynes St) as well as up to two hours free parking at nearby HQ South.
