Iconic 1970's Queensland tourist attraction The Big Pineapple has reopened, so that once again visitors of all ages can experience the heritage-listed landmark with its fun onsite activities.

Standing at 16 metres (52 ft) high, the 2-level fibreglass Big Pineapple, which  opened on 15 August 1971, is situated on a 170-hectare site, originally known as the Sunshine Plantation.

Today, under new owners, the site has been transformed into a multi-purpose complex, which includes a revamped TreeTop Challenge zipline, Wildlife HQ zoo, new cafe and viewing platform and children's playground as well as the restoration of the beloved train, which was built in the 1950's.

Another newer addition to the Big Pineapple is Sunshine & Sons distillery, whilst a piece of nostalgia sits outside the cafe - the train carriage that Prince Charles and Princess Diana rode in is on permanent display.
