Kangaroo Point Park

Kangaroo Pt

Kangaroo Point Park, the park with arguably the most stunning views in Brisbane is a legacy of Queensland's 150 year celebrations, when an eyesore of a building, Kangaroo Point TAFE was demolished to make way for it. The result is this conceptual public space comprising a mix of street art and landscape art that doubles as the city's premier picnic and barbecue spot, nestled between the Cliffs Point Cafe and historical St Mary's Anglican church.

Incorporated into the park's design are five artworks - the giant torpedo-like Venus Rising by UK artist Wolfgang Buttress and based on the Fibonacci Spiral, Wormhole – a stripey tactile 'time machine' and child magnet by Alexander Knox, Seven Versions of the Sun, Daniel Boyd's creation of laser cut sun motifs on screens embedded in seven arbours and casting shadows on the surrounding landscape , and two green works by Nicole Voevodin-Cash – The Green Room - the wavelike undulations of the parks lawn and Afforest – a 'forest' planted on unforested land in the form of an arbor of 'Queen's Wreath' or purple petrea connecting to avenues of dry forest trees.
