Creekside Park Walk

Kenmore

Creekside Park is at the heart of a pleasant and serene one hour green belt walk connecting the back streets of Kenmore to Brookfield, and one that is a bit of a local’s secret.

Start the walk at the dead end of Branton St, where there’s some car parks and a bridge across (after rain) a lovely flowing creek. Cross the bridge and arrive at the T-intersection of a long manicured corridor of mown grass, with an offleash dog park to one side.

Take the path to the left, past the little stone cairn which marks the spot of Kenmore’s first church hall from the early 1950s. Follow it along parallel to the creek bed until it merges with the road (Parklane Tce).

Continue on the footpath of Parklane Tce till it turns sharp left and becomes Kintyre St. A short distance along, take a right turn into Blackbutt Place and follow it until, on the right there’s a large storm drain with a grass strip and path alongside.

Follow the path until it curves to the left and enters another much larger reserve. At the T-intersection turn left and follow the green belt all the way to Rafting Ground Road at Brookfield, one of the westside’s premier green expanses.

Return following the same route. Altogether, the walk is approx. one-hour return.

Need to know - There is a free car park at the start of the walk. Branton St is a dead-end street that leads off Brookfield Rd.

Nice to know - This is a great walk to take the dog along.
