Goodtime
West End
Goodtime brings a taste of Asia to the corner of the old Peters Ice Cream Factory in West Village - a casual eatery with a menu inspired the old Chinese takeaways of Aussie suburbia but with a modern twist.
Diners can rock up and take a seat in the wraparound garden terrace out front or the cool minimalist interior and enjoy lunch, an afternoon drink with snacks or dinner.
The menu is divided into yum cha, kitchen snacks, mains and chef;s specials, with a generous all-you-can-eat banquet also available for $49pp (Kids $29)..
Kitchen snacks, designed to share, include salt & pepper corn ribs or squid, vegetarian spring rolls, sesame prawn toast, crispy eggplant chips, soy sauce noodles, crispy fried prawn dumplings or banana spring roll with ice-cream.
The wide selection of Yum Cha dishes includes squid ink prawn wasabi dumplings, BBQ pork buns, steamed vegetarian dumplings, pork ribs in black bean sauce, prok dumplings Szechuan style and Piggy custard buns (pig-shaped buns filled with custard).
For mains, there's a choice of noodle soups (vegetable or chicken laksa, prawn wonton or crispy chicken); chicken chow mein with black beans (flying noodles); crispy curry chicken or crispy black pepper chicken on rice; truffled fried rice or Uncle Roger's special fried rice.
The Chef's Specials come recommended and these include trout fillets with lychee, Bangkok style (sweet'n'sour); braised pork belly; and king prawns, Singapore style with bao.
On the drinks menu there's a small selection of cocktails including pink margaritas, mocktails spirits, craft beer on tap and a concise eclectic wine list, including drops from Australia, NZ, Italy and France.
