Tapri

Rosalie

Tapri, sibling and next door neighbour to contemporary Indian diner Old Monk, brings an authentic and delectable taste of Indian street food, unlike anything to be found elsewhere in Brisbane, to Rosalie Village.

Tapri Rosalie

Located right next to Blue Room Cinebar, Tapri is the perfect spot for a pre-or-post movie feast, which, with its generous serves at budget prices, which won't break the bank.

Diners can take a seat inside the colourful neon lit interior or on the terrace, where there's also a special table attached to a bright yellow moped.

Quirky colourful decor aside, the star here is the exquisite array of street food delicacies on offer, starting with the selection of chatori chat, including aloo laccha, tokri, crispy kale and palak or samosa channa chaat; as well as Chinese Bhel (crunchy fried noodles tossed with homemade slaw & Szechuan chutney); and Dahi Puri (small crispy puffed breads with boiled potato, chickpeas, yoghurt and chutney).

Classic street food dishes include Kori Sukka with Paratha (South Indian delicacy of chicken pieces marinated in dry cutrry); Chole Bhature (North Indian fluffy fried bread with chickpea curry); cheese chili fries; and Pav Bhaji (Mumbai speciality - vegetable curry with buttered bread rolls).

Also on the menu are a small selection of kulchas or parathas (stuffed flatbreads) such as Amritsari Aloo Kulcha (stuffed with spiced aloo, with chick peas and chutney); and Paneer Paratha (made with spiced grated paneer, served with raita and pickle) and Tapri Special Kulcha (straight out of the streets of Amritsar).

Must try are the crispy golden dosas (South Indian speciality) with a huge variety to choose from, including plain, masala, garlic roast, spicy paneer cheese chilli, egg, beetroot, charcoal and the Tapri Special Matka Dosa (lamb/chicken/paneer cooked in special sauces and served in a clay pot with sambar and chutney).

There's also a grilled sandwich menu including Mumbai Grilled Veg with cheese, tomato ketchup and green chutney; Chicken Tikka; or Paneer filled with scrambled paneer and veges, with chutney and ketchup; as well as small selecyion of desserts like Coconut Jaggery Dosa and Gulab Jamun.
