Ruean Phae Thai Restaurant is one of those rare stumble - across gems – a tiny authentic piece of Thailand found in a quaint old garage workshop in the midst of a trendy warehouse-filled Teneriffe street.

With seating for only 30 it’s part takeaway, part homey restaurant, with smiley chefs in an open kitchen at the back, louvred barred windows from the garage days and little black and white photos of Thailand randomly adorning the purple walls.

The substantial menu has all the usual Thai favourites with a specials menu that is well worth a look, featuring delicious dishes such as Peking duck and pumpkin Penang Curry and beef, king prawns or fish in the signature house Ruean Phae sauce.

Otherwise there are salads, curries, stir fires and noodles galore.
