Atrium
Sandgate
Tiny whimsical seaside boutique Atrium inhabits the shell of a 1950s dress shop – Val-de-Lee Frocks (whose sign still adorns the brick wall inside), overlooking the historic town square of Sandgate.
Channelling the understated elegance of the bygone era, The Atrium stocks a small eclectic and ever-changing collection of chic original pieces by Australian labels.
There's no sign to indicate the shop, just a couple of upturned crates, astro turf and fashion mags on a fruit box with a view to the rotunda and village square.
Good to know - A touch of romance in the story behind the shop is that the original owner Val's beau was Bill Hoffman, whose family established Hoffy Cycles in 1928 around the corner..
