Monte Ale House
Slacks Creek
Monte Ale House is a secret southside craft beer bar and eatery tucked away in the industrial backstreets of Slacks Creek.
This suburban bar boasts an industrial man cave vibe with walls lined with fishing rods, golf bags, retro signs, sports memorabilia and more, plus a pinball machine and tabletop arcade game.
Beer aficionados can sit inside the dimly-lit bar or outside in the astro-turfed beer garden while sampling the many beers on offer. Nine of the fifteen beers on tap are craft including local brews like Green Beacon, Ballistic, Balter and Black Hops, plus Monte Ale House Lager; while the remaining taps are reserved for more mainstream beer such as XXXX and VB.
The kitchen dishes up lunch six days a week and dinner from Thursday to Saturday, with a mouthwatering menu of classic faves from juicy Angus beef burgers and beer battered fish and chips to succulent steak sandwiches and chicken schnitzels. Otherwise, there's slow-cooked lamb shanks in rich tomato gravy and hickory barbecue glazed pork ribs.
In addition, Monte is family-friendly with a menu for kids consisting of popcorn chicken and chips, fish and chips, and cheeseburger and chips.
Besides beer, there are soft drinks, spirits and house wine available by the glass. Alternatively, customers can purchase a bottle of wine from the adjacent bottle shop to enjoy onsite (for a small corkage fee).
