Casa de Loca
Fortitude Valley
Casa de Loca is a colourful rustic Spanish tapas and cocktail bar tucked away on the edge of a quirky European-style piazza of bars and eateries in Fortitude Valley.
Diners can take a seat on the fairylit covered deck or inside the main dining space where a striking mural takes centreplace and partake in a selection of delicious authentic Spanish tapas and a killer cocktail or jug of sangria.
While the food is straight out of the streets of Spain, the extensive list of cocktails run the gamut from classic to house signature, with around-the-world flavours.
Choose from classics like Mojito, Midori Sour, Cosmopolitan, Fruit Daiquiri; French, Lemon Drop or Espresso Martini; or one of the highly recommended House Signatures such as Spicy Mango Margarita, Japanese Slipper, Peach Cosmopolitan, or Cucumber & Elderflower Gimlet. There's also a selection of beers and a house cocktail on tap, spirits and a smattering of wine.
Casa de Loca is not just a place to enjoy cocktails, but the best place in Brisbane for traditional Spanish tapas, including chipirones (sauteed squid with white wine, parsley, garlic and green olive oil), chorizo a la sidra (spicy chorizo sauteed in apple cider), and carne en salsa (beef and traditional tomato salsa).
There's also patatas bravas (a must-try), tortilla de patatas (traditional potato omelette); Croqueta (house-made croquettes); Berenjenas (fried eggplant with honey goat's cheese & balsamic glaze) and Gambas As Ajillo (spicy garlic prawns with smoky Spanish paprika).
There is also a selection of Bocadillos (cheese, calamari, tortilla de patatas, and jamon serrano); cheese, jamon serrano or Iberian mixed platters; and sides like empanadas and olives.
Paella is also on offer either as a tapas dish, or a larger share pan for 2/3 people - with a choice of seafood, chicken and chorizo or vegan and it also comes highly recommended.
And for dessert there's hand-made churros with dipping chocolate; crema catalina; baked cheesecake (house-made with flavour of the day) and Tarta Santiago (house-made almond cake topped with ice-cream, cream and icing sugar).
Need to know - There's a limited amount of free parking onsite in the piazza, otherwise on-street parking nearby.
