Spring Hill

Updated: Oct 07, 2023

Arcadium is an other-worldly underground immersive adventure land and bar located in the basement of heritage-listed Dods House in Spring Hill.

Take a step through the curtain into the wood-panelled entry hall to be greeted by a spooky voice that beckons patrons to come downstairs if they dare.

Down the carved timber stairs is a dim-lit bar and lounge where you enjoy a magic potion cocktail or a beer or wine whilst awaiting to step through into one of the escape realms and solve the mysteries that lie behind the historic wood-panelled walls.

Here, players (in groups of 2-6) can choose from 3 themed realms: Magic, Mystery or Fantasy* before being led through mysterious doors, with costumes on hand to embark on their immersive adventure.

Unlike the usual escape rooms, these feature a series of portals and clues with a special phone that is used to uncover the many layers of mysteries that lie within before their 50 minutes is up.

During this time there'll be plenty of map reading, puzzle solving, key finding, code-cracking and maths so the whole team gets a chance to shine at helping to get everyone through the adventure.

Afterwards (or beforehand!), you can indulge in the house signature cocktails, themed on the adventure. Magic cocktails include the Madragon, Sangui's Dragon and Liquid Lunch whilst Mystery Cocktails include A Mystery Mojito and Grey Goose Espresso Martini.

There's also a range of craft beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks available. And you don't have to play a game to be able to drink at the bar - it is open to those who just want to relax with a drink.

Good to know - Dods House is done of Brisbane's landmark historic buildings and was originally built  for Dr Espie Dods, who used the largely untouched front rooms as his medical reception and practice and lived in the rest of the residence.
