The Hilton Brisbane, a cool oasis of striking timeless design by one of Australia’s leading 20th century architects, sits in prime position in the shopping heart of Brisbane CBD.

Characterized by a chic soaring atrium with Mad Men style lobby bar and external glass lifts that hurtle up and down 24/7 like little space capsules, the Harry Seidler-designed Hilton is something of a city icon as well as Brisbane’s best-located hotel for indulging in retail therapy.

Guests can take the lift down from the foyer and step out straight onto the Queen Street Mall, with the Wintergarden next door and Queens Plaza across the mall. And for the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Australia’s longest pedestrian al fresco shopping strip, there’s a rooftop tennis court and a fantastic lap pool and spa with views across the rooftops and facades of some heritage buildings.

The Hilton Brisbane

Rooms at the Hilton are on-trend with décor and comfort and boast extra large windows to look out over the city skyscape. The upper Executive rooms are the bomb, not just because of the opportunity to ride the glass lifts to and from dizzying heights but for the access to the modernist Executive Lounge in which Don Draper would be right at home.

Here you can perch on stools or on white vinyl 60s style chairs enjoying sunset over Brisbane with complimentary wine or beer accompanied by any number of delicious morsels from the mini-buffet of antipasto, charcuterie, cheese and canapes. On offer are olives, cheeses, cold meats, dips, fruit salad, crackers and vegetable sticks and hot finger food such as samosas, gourmet mini pies and corn fritters.

Otherwise head down to the foyer and the stunning Atrium Bar with its red curved lounges and chairs and one of Brisbane CBD’s best restaurants, Vintaged Bar and Grill awaits. On the one night that the restaurant it is closed (Sundays) there’s still an ‘Extended Menu’ available from the bar (think oysters, risotto, pasta, Mains from the Grill such as divine grain-fed beef with veges or salad and choice of sauce) alongside lighter meals like gourmet sandwiches and burgers.

Vintaged Bar + Grill Brisbane

In the morning a splendid buffet breakfast is laid out in chic Vintaged Bar and Grill, encompassing fresh fruits, green smoothies and make-your-own fresh juices, bircher muesli and fruit compotes in tiny retro jars, a range of cereals, nuts and stewed and dried fruits. Other cold items include croissants, Danish fruit pastries, cheeses, cured meats and smoked salmon and an assortment of sliced breads and sour dough are there for self-toasting.

The hot selection includes le Creuset pots of scrambled eggs, baked beans, bacon, potato rosti, mushrooms, gourmet sausages, French toast, pancakes, Congee and stir fry noodles while omelettes are made fresh to order with a wide selection of fillings.

Need to know - Valet parking doesn't come cheap, at $58 a day, but with a location like this, leave the car at home.
