Gambaro Hotel
Petrie Terrace
Gambaro Hotel is a stunning boutique hotel that is a pinnacle of understated luxury and elegance in a convenient historic inner city Brisbane location.
Owned by Brisbane’s esteemed Gambaro family, whose iconic seafood restaurant (Brisbane’s oldest) operates from the base of the hotel, the Gambaro Hotel is a place to suit the most fastidious of guests.
Encompassing 68 state-of-the-art rooms (49 with balconies), Gambaro Hotel also offers opulent one and two-bedroom suites with the wow factor. All guest rooms feature mood lighting, art works, dark wood, bespoke furniture in muted tones, marble vanity, rain shower, luxury embossed bed linen and bed from the top-of-the-range Gambaro Hotel Signature Sleeps Collection, a pillow menu and first-class amenities from Appelles Apothecary & Lab.
Those with balconies enjoy views over Caxton St to Suncorp Stadium and beyond, or vistas across the pyramid tin-roofed workers cottages and Queenslanders that cling to the narrow steep streets of Petrie Terrace (Brisbane’s oldest suburb) and Paddington behind.
Even rooms without balconies enjoy aspects over the striking atrium which features a giant hanging fish sculpture as an ode to the Gambaro’s history.
Upgrade to a DG Suite and indulge or - the ultimate - a JG Suite and you may never want to leave. The former, a spacious room of muted chic features a walk-through dressing room, work station, lounge area, BOSE sound system 55 inch LED TV and wet area with rain shower and bath tub, while the JG or MG suites enjoy a separate lounge area, too.
The contents of the mini-bar are on par with the facilities – think Moet et Chandon, Belvedere Vodka, Black Label Johnny Walker and international beers, with thoughtful extras such as Berocca, personal amenities, etc.
A stand-out at the Gambaro Hotel is the Room Service Menu, which is derived from the Gambaro Seafood Restaurant menu (with some casual dining items thrown in), resulting in what would have to be the best in-room dining in Brisbane. Breakfast guests enjoy offerings such as home-made bircher muesli with yoghurt, berries and rhubarb, maple granola, baked field mushrooms, sour dough toast with cultured butter and house-made jam or topped with lavish helpings of avo, dukkah and lemon. Even the Big Breakfast comprises house-made gourmet sausages, bacon, tomato and eggs any style, while barista-made coffee choices include latte, flat white and cappuccino.
For lunch and 24-hour casual dining, there’s a Gambaro Steak Burger, toasted sandwiches with fillings such as roast chicken and avo or chargrilled vegetables and cheese (served with salad and hand-cut chips), nachos or cheese platters.
Guests who choose to stay in rather than dine at the award-winning Gambaro Restaurant downstairs (which opens for breakfast on weekends) or the Gambaro-owned first-class Black Hide Steakhouse across the road, can enjoy some of the tastes of these top restaurants in their own room, with signature dishes such as the Michael Special (Panko-Fried Barramundi Fillet with Parmesan Egg Cream), Linguini Marinara and Angus Eye Fillet (250g Stanbroke marble 3+, wagyu fat roast potatoes and red wine jus) in the room.
Other guest amenities at Gambaro Hotel include a balcony terrace overlooking Caxton St and Suncorp Stadium, free valet parking (based on availability) and access to a nearby gymnasium.
Need to know – Situated on the lively Caxton Street dining and bar precinct, Gambaro Hotel is just a 5 min walk to Suncorp Stadium and a 15 min walk (or 4 min bus ride) to the Brisbane CBD and 10 min walk to GOMA. Gambaro Hotel also has fantastic corporate and social function packages and is one of Brisbane’s top places for wedding parties and makes a top choice for any special occasion.
Must Do nearby - Black Hide Steakhouse (another Gambaro staple) Lefty's Music Hall, Brewski, Mermaid Lounge, Palace Cinemas, The Barracks, Unforgiven and the boutiques and cafes of historic Paddington.
