Colour - See The World in a New Light
Ipswich Art Gallery
Colour - See The World in a New Light is a fascinating family exhibition now showing at Ipswich Art Gallery until August 31.
Developed by Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra, visitors will be able to see colour as they've seen it before.
Visit the Room of Missing Colours and hear captivating stories from people who see colour when they hear music. Engage with over 25 interactive experiences including coloured bubbles, iridescent insects and colour illusions, plus explore how light influences colour, and compare your perception of colour with family and friends.
See like a bee with the ultraviolet camera, take a high-resolution image of your eye, and see glowing quantum nanomaterials that change their colour with crystal size. This exhibition will show the power colour has on the choices we make every day, and on our responses to our environment.
For younger visitors, a Kids’ Trail is included. Artworks of Australian plants and animals are placed throughout the exhibition but the colours seem to be missing. Children and adults alike are challenged to ‘find’ the colour in the pictures by using the included polarising glasses, and watch the colourless images come to life.
Need to know - To comply with Queensland Government guidelines, the art gallery will limit the number of people in attendance at any one time. Visitors are required to pre-book a 90-minute session with 4 sessions available each day: 9:30am-11am, 11:30am-1pm, 1:30pm-3pm and 3:30pm-5pm.
