Camerata - When The World Was Wide

Concert Hall QPAC

Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra returns to the QPAC Concert Hall on November 28 with the anticipated new theatre-concert work, When The World Was Wide.

Billed as not quite a concert, not quite a play, Camerata’s latest production explores the friendship between two iconic Australian poets and writers, Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson, during a nostalgic time of campfires and storytelling amidst the great Australian bush.

Camerata When the World was Wide

Written by, and also starring, Tama Matheson, When The World Was Wide pairs atmospheric and evocative music performed live by Camerata with a selection of poetic works from both writers including Clancy of the Overflow and The Man from Snowy River.

Internationally renowned Aussie singer/actor Brett Brown will also return from his London base to star in this much anticipated new work. Brown is no stranger to the spotlight, having sung for Opera Australia, performed in the West End, and even appeared in the Academy Award-winning movie, The Theory of Everything.

Camerata When the World was Wide

Performing without a conductor, Camerata’s string players are renowned for passionate, exciting performances suitable for all ages and tastes. The chamber orchestra is much loved by theatre critics and audiences alike, and even scored a nomination at the 2019 Helpmann Awards.
